At Belgian Coast Hotels, sustainability is key. We strive to distinguish ourselves by going to extremes to take the best possible care of our planet. We are proud to say that most of our hotels have therefore achieved the Green Key eco-label, a recognition of our careful treatment of the environment.
Environmentally friendly efforts
Green Key is a global label represented on five continents and in 70 countries. It is the first quality label to highlight sustainable travel, meetings and relaxation. When you visit or book one of our Green Key locations, you can count on the planet to benefit, without sacrificing comfort or affordability.
At Belgian Coast Hotels, our commitment to sustainability goes beyond just obtaining certificates. We implement numerous green initiatives to reduce our ecological footprint while making your stay as comfortable and environmentally friendly as possible.
Our efforts not only have a positive impact on the environment, but also provide benefits for you as a guest. For example, in a selection of our hotels it is possible to pay for your stay with ecocheques: ibis Styles Nieuwpoort, ibis budget Knokke and ibis De Haan offer this service.

Our initiatives
Our Green Key-labelled hotels put a lot of effort into sustainable policies. Below, we like to highlight some of our initiatives.
Refillable containers
In our rooms, you will no longer find plastic cups or other disposable products. We use sustainable materials and offer eco-friendly facilities. In the bathrooms, we use soap dispensers that are refillable instead of single-use containers.
Mobility
Focus on sustainable mobility. In our car park, you will find charging stations as well as enclosed bicycle storage. You can also rent bikes to explore the area in an environmentally friendly and, above all, fun way.
Package free breakfast
Counter foodwaste at breakfast by targeted preparation. For less than 15 people, the hot buffet is prepared à la carte. Again, we avoid single use packaging by offering local and plastic-free products.
Sustainability
Our latest hotel was built with sustainable materials. For instance, there is LED lighting everywhere and every bathroom has water-saving taps. In turn, our energy is generated by solar panels and wind power.
Green car park
Take your electric car to Zeebrugge? Yes, you can! In the spacious car park of ibis Styles Zeebrugge you can connect your car to one of our charging stations.
Go green skip the clean
We have an ecological cleaning policy ‘go green skip the clean’. Through door hangers, guests can indicate whether their room needs cleaning or not.
Digitalisation
In our operations, we focus on digitisation and pay attention to less paper consumption. For example, invoices are sent by e-mail and reservation confirmations are no longer printed.
Recycling
Backstage, waste is sorted intensively. This is also encouraged in the rooms by offering the possibility of sorting.
